3 tips for spring HVAC maintenance

Spring always brings the need for spring maintenance. The wear of winter and the arrival of warmer temperatures make cleaning and home repairs an inevitability. Your HVAC system is no exception.

Your air conditioner requires seasonal maintenance to run effectively and efficiently. It’s important to ensure everything is in working order before turning on the AC. Although you can do some easy fixes and maintenance yourself, a licensed professional is the best person to perform inspections and repairs. They identify potential issues that you might miss and can improve system performance, safety, and efficiency.

Fagnan’s Furnace Service brings exceptional expertise and skill to every service call. You can rely on their expertise to get your air conditioner back in tip-top shape before summer.

1. Change the air filter

The role of an air filter is to improve the air quality within your home. It traps allergens, dust, and other airborne particles to purify the air. Consequently, air filters clog with debris over time.

An HVAC system with an old or dirty air filter has to work harder, which leads to higher energy bills. For these reasons, it’s imperative to replace the air filter regularly, according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. If you own pets, you should check and replace the filter more frequently.

2. Inspect and clean the unit

Outdoor air conditioners can accumulate a lot of debris, including leaves, twigs, grass, and dirt. Plus, they’re exposed to the elements year-round, and you should always inspect your HVAC unit after winter. Clear debris away from the unit and inspect for noticeable damage.

Air conditioners also require regular cleaning to keep them running at optimal performance. When Fagnan's Furnace Service comes for an AC maintenance call, we'll check the coil fins and evaporator coil to ensure they're clean. While some homeowners choose to clean their own AC, the wrong method can bend or damage the fins.

3. Book a service appointment

Our NATE certified HVAC professionals have decades of experience servicing HVAC systems. They can help keep your furnace and air conditioner working as long as possible, boosting efficiency, home comfort and preventing breakdowns.

Although Fagnan’s Furnace Service is a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, we can repair, service, or replace all makes and models. So before you put your air conditioner to work this summer, call us for an inspection and tune-up.
