AC Spring Checklist: Preparing for the Cooling Season
Summer is approaching, and now is the perfect time to get your air conditioning ready to do its job. Preparing for the cooling season with some inspections and maintenance will ensure your home is cool and comfortable during the warm months ahead.
Fagnan’s Furnace Service has decades of experience in the HVAC industry. That means we’ve seen it all, so we recommend taking a few steps in the spring to get your air conditioning in good working order. Here we suggest a few.
Change your filters
Before you turn your air conditioning on for the first time, check the air filter. You want a clean and unclogged filter to allow for proper airflow. Once you have your first air filter in for the season, change it every three months or according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
A few areas in your air-conditioning unit may need cleaning before you turn it on for the first time—for example, the blower. You can check your blower fan blades, vacuum clean and wipe them down. Your AC outdoor condenser unit is another area you can clean. Debris, like leaves and dirt, could be clogging it. If you’re unsure how to clean these items correctly and without causing damage, contact a pro for help!
Schedule a maintenance visit
Your air conditioning should receive regular annual maintenance to perform at its best. It also helps to increase the longevity of your unit. The best time to schedule a service appointment with Fagnan’s Furnace Service is now. We will give your unit a complete inspection and provide a tune-up and repairs to ensure it’s operating at peak performance.
When it’s time for a replacement
All in all, your air-conditioning should last you around 15-20 years. But, of course, longevity also depends on the make, model, use, and maintenance history. So, if you think your air-conditioning may be at the end of its life, give us a call. We can do an inspection and make suggestions. As a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, we carry many highly efficient Carrier air-conditioning units. We’ll help you find the best for your home and budget.
